Tarah Time! Bible Songs and Memory Verse Songs for Preschoolers
By Tony Kummer
Every so often I find someone teaching little kids the Bible the way I wish more people did. Mrs. Tarah is one of them.
Her YouTube channel, Tarah Time!, teaches toddlers and preschoolers God's Word through Bible songs, memory verse songs with hand motions, and simple weekly Bible stories. It's free to watch, it points kids to Jesus, and it's made for children who learn best by singing and moving. We've started pointing teachers to her videos in our curriculum's bonus resources, so she deserves a proper shout-out.
What it is: A free YouTube channel of Bible songs, Scripture songs, and Bible stories for toddlers, preschoolers, and young kids.
Best for: Preschool Sunday school, children's church, and families teaching the Bible at home.
Where to start: The Scripture Songs with Motions playlist.
Who's behind Tarah Time!
Before we recommend any resource, we look at who made it and where they stand theologically. It has to fit our own convictions about teaching kids the Bible, or we don't send you there.
Tarah Time! is led by Mrs. Tarah. Houston's First Baptist Church, a Southern Baptist church in Houston, Texas, hosts Tarah Time worship mornings for preschoolers and their families at its Cypress campus. Her videos keep Jesus at the center, teach straight from Scripture, and stay simple enough for a three-year-old. We trust her as a resource for your classroom and your home.
Why Bible songs work with preschoolers
A three-year-old can't read a memory verse yet. But put that verse to a tune, add a few hand motions, and they'll be singing it in the car by Wednesday. Tarah Time! is built on that idea. Her channel takes its purpose from Psalm 78:4: tell the next generation about the Lord and the wonderful things He has done.
What you'll find on Tarah Time!
- Memory verse songs with motions. Short songs, most about a minute long, each built around one verse. Psalm 56:3, John 3:16, Psalm 119:105, and the Great Commission in Matthew 28:19-20 are all there. Look for the Memory Verses and Praise Pops! playlists.
- Weekly family devotionals. A new Bible story each week, working through the Bible in order, from the kings and prophets of the Old Testament to the birth of Jesus. Each one is made for families to watch together at home. See the Weekly Family Devotional playlist.
- Longer sing-along sets. Twenty to thirty minute collections like Preschool Praise and Worship and Psalms for Preschool and Kids. Good for arrival time, a rainy-day classroom, or a long car ride.
- Toddler Tunes! A playlist of simple songs for the youngest learners. Browse Toddler Tunes!
Three Tarah Time! videos to start with
1. The Great Commission song with motions (Matthew 28:19-20)
One of her most-watched verse songs. The motions make "go and make disciples" easy for little hands to act out.
2. Psalm 56:3 memory verse song
Under a minute long. Keep this one ready for the child who is scared of storms, the dark, or a new classroom.
3. God Makes Us Brave (Esther), a weekly family devotional
A good example of her Bible stories for preschoolers: one story and one simple truth, told the way little ones can follow.
How to use Tarah Time! in your preschool class
- Play the verse song during arrival. Kids trickle in, the song is already going, and the verse is in the room before the lesson starts.
- Learn the motions yourself. Then sing it with the class without the screen.
- Sing it again at pickup. Parents hear it, and now they know the verse too.
- Send families the link. One video a week gives parents an easy way to keep the verse going at home.
- Match the song to your lesson. Search her channel for your memory verse reference. There's a good chance she has a song for it.
Repetition is the lesson plan for preschoolers. A verse sung three times on Sunday sticks better than five verses read once.

from 3962 reviewsI am very happy with this curriculum. It will help me through this year with our little ones! Thanks so much.
The lessons have so many options for teaching ideas. I love the object lessons and the games provided that are related to the lessons. The lessons are also written in such a way, that anyone could teach them. Also, the price is unbelievable. I am excited about using it!
These lessons are interesting and fun. I work with the special needs students and this helps hold their attention.
I often get a quick download because I'm part of a small church and just can't afford as much as I'd like to get for my Sunday morning class or Sunday and Wednesday night. Thanks so much!
I appreciate having help with planning my lessons. I have a small class consisting of 3 yrs old to 9 yrs old sometimes only one child - sometimes 8!! Your website offers possibilities for both age groups
Okay, I’ve been in Sunday school or have been a Sunday school teacher most of my life. The way this lesson was presented gave me a totally new perspective on what took place on Palm Sunday. I had never thought of it as a celebration. A parade to celebrate Jesus’s triumph over sin.
Great lesson.
Have been using your curriculum for the last 3 + years. It works perfectly for our small church that may have two children one Sunday, and 8 the next. One teacher may have 2-4 yearolds, a 9 year old, a 10 year old and a 12 year old the same Sunday morning. The lessons are such that they adapt to the group we have. One of my favorite lessons was about avoiding obsticals in our walk with God. I used paper to lay out the obstical course with chairs, stools, the piano bench. Each person had their own special obstical. The 4 year-old budied up with the 9 year old.
Three boys went first. They did very well. The 5 girls went second. The last girl sat on a stool and sang the chorus of Jesus loves me beautifully. It was a wonderful plan that meant a lot to the older children. The younger ones had fun, and seeds have been planted! I have some Sundays when I wonder if they have retained anything! On a lesson on creation, we talked about how the raiin fell from the sky, and I asked where all the water went. The 3 1/2 year old said" it fell on the road". This was after his sister pulled him out from under the coffee table! We had a heavy rain just the day before. He participated--was listening and showed an understanding of -part of the lesson! Thank You!
