Over five weeks kids hear the parable of the sower, as a farmer scatters seed on four kinds of ground (Luke 8); the Good Samaritan, who stops to help a hurt man on the road (Luke 10); the Pharisee and the tax collector, two men who go up to the temple to pray (Luke 18); the lost sheep and the lost coin, and the joy when each one is found (Luke 15); and the prodigal son, as a father runs to welcome his younger son home and goes out to plead with the older one (Luke 15). ✝️ Gospel Connection: Jesus told stories about seeds, neighbors, prayers, lost sheep and a waiting father, and each one shows us what God is like. Jesus did more than tell these stories: He came to seek and to save the lost. He died on the cross for our sins and rose again, so everyone who trusts Him is forgiven and welcomed home to God.
Week 1: Hold On to God's Word (The Parable of the Sower, Luke 8)
- Bible Story: The Farmer and the Four Kinds of Ground (Luke 8:4–15)
- Key Discovery: God's Word is good seed, and God makes it grow in everyone who hears it and holds on to it.
- Takeaway: I can listen to God's Word and hold on to it.
Week 2: Be a Neighbor Who Shows Mercy (The Good Samaritan, Luke 10)
- Bible Story: The Samaritan Who Stopped to Help (Luke 10:25–37)
- Key Discovery: Jesus teaches that a neighbor shows mercy to anyone in need, and Jesus came to show mercy to us.
- Takeaway: I can show mercy to someone who needs help.
Week 3: God Has Mercy on the Humble (The Pharisee and the Tax Collector, Luke 18)
- Bible Story: Two Men Go Up to Pray (Luke 18:9–14)
- Key Discovery: God does not welcome us for being better than others; He shows mercy to everyone who humbly asks.
- Takeaway: I can come to God humbly and ask for mercy.
Week 4: Jesus Searches for the Lost (The Lost Sheep and the Lost Coin, Luke 15)
- Bible Story: The Lost Sheep and the Lost Coin (Luke 15:1–10)
- Key Discovery: Jesus came to seek the lost, and heaven rejoices over every sinner who turns back to God.
- Takeaway: I can thank Jesus that He came to find me.
Week 5: Come In to the Father's Party (The Prodigal Son, Luke 15)
- Bible Story: The Father and His Two Sons (Luke 15:11–32)
- Key Discovery: God welcomes sinners who run away and goes out to proud people who stay home; His love is for both.
- Takeaway: I can be glad when God welcomes anyone home.
