Introduction & Curriculum Overview

Kids today are surrounded by challenges. From struggles at school to difficulties at home, life can often feel like one crisis after another. It's like they're caught in a storm that won't let up or trapped in a fiery furnace with no way out.

These challenges can make our kids feel alone and overwhelmed. They might feel like they're facing problems that are too big to overcome.  The storm seems too wild, the furnace too hot. It's hard for them to see a way forward, and they might be wondering if anyone is there to help them navigate these tough times.

But here's the good news we have for them! Jesus, the Way Maker, is always with them. He performed miracles in the Bible to show His power and love for us. He calmed the storm, fed thousands with just a few loaves and fishes, healed the blind, and even raised the dead. And in the Old Testament, He was there in the fiery furnace with Shadrach, Meshach, and Abednego, protecting them from harm.

In this 5-week series, we will walk our children through these amazing miracles. We'll show them how these stories demonstrate that Jesus is always with them, making a way where there seems to be no way. We'll connect these miracles to the greatest miracle of all - the death and resurrection of Jesus Christ.

Through this curriculum, we pray that our children will come to believe in Jesus, not just as a miracle worker, but as their personal Savior who died and rose again for them. And in doing so, they'll discover that He truly is the Way Maker in their lives, guiding them through their challenges and leading them into a deeper relationship with Him.

Week 1: "The Way Maker Calms the Storm"

• Bible Story: Mark 4:35-41 - Jesus Calms the Storm
• Main Idea: Jesus, the Way Maker, has power over nature and can bring peace in the midst of our storms.
• Application: This lesson will help kids understand that no matter what storms they face in life, Jesus is with them, bringing peace and calm. It will encourage them to turn to Jesus in times of trouble, deepening their relationship with Him.

Week 2: "The Way Maker Feeds the Five Thousand"

• Bible Story: John 6:1-14 - Jesus Feeds the Five Thousand
• Main Idea: Jesus, the Way Maker, can miraculously provide for our needs.
• Application: This lesson will help kids see that Jesus can provide for their needs, both physical and spiritual. It will inspire them to trust in Jesus' provision, strengthening their faith and reliance on Him.

Week 3: "The Way Maker Heals the Blind Man"

• Bible Story: John 9:1-12 - Jesus Heals a Man Born Blind
• Main Idea: Jesus, the Way Maker, brings healing and helps us see His love more clearly.
• Application: This lesson will help kids understand that Jesus can bring healing and clarity into their lives. It will encourage them to seek Jesus for healing and understanding, fostering a deeper connection with Him.

Week 4: "The Way Maker in the Fiery Furnace"

• Bible Story: Daniel 3:1-30 - Shadrach, Meshach, and Abednego in the Fiery Furnace
• Main Idea: Jesus, the Way Maker, is always with us, even amid our trials, just as He was with Shadrach, Meshach, and Abednego in the fiery furnace.
• Application: This lesson will help kids realize that Jesus is with them in their toughest times, providing protection and comfort. It will encourage them to lean on Jesus during trials, reinforcing their trust in Him.

Week 5: "The Way Maker Raises Lazarus from the Dead"

• Bible Story: John 11:1-44 - The Raising of Lazarus
• Main Idea: Jesus, the Way Maker, has power over life and death, showing His ultimate love for us.
• Application: This lesson will help kids grasp the power of Jesus over life and death. It will inspire them to believe in Jesus' promise of eternal life, deepening their understanding of His love and sacrifice for them.
