In this lesson, children will consider how we respond to and spread good news. The Gospel is the good news of Jesus Christ. Christmas reminds us that we have received the greatest blessing of all, and that we can share it with the world. In the Bible, angels served as messengers who announced the coming of Jesus. Those hearing of His advent rejoiced and told others about Him. We, too, should be joyful as we worship and praise God, and as we tell others about Him. 

The Gospel is the good news that Jesus has come to live and die for us. It is our privilege and responsibility as Christians to celebrate that wonderful news, and to pass it along to others around us. We can do this through our words as well as actions, demonstrating Christ’s love in how we live and how we care for others. At Christmas, it’s easy to get caught up in the chaos and clutter of the season. Recounting the message of the angels reminds us of who and what we should truly honor at such a special time of year.

Passage: Luke 1:26-38; 46-55
