Your Sunday, solved. Everything you need lives in one file—open it, read the script, and you’re ready in minutes, not hours. Stage directions and supply lists included, so even a first-time volunteer can lead with confidence.

An after-Easter series for kids — four Sunday school lessons on the risen Jesus and the mission He left His friends. Encore! picks up the same afternoon Easter ended and keeps going: the risen Jesus walking beside two heartbroken friends on the Emmaus road (Luke 24), the evening He showed He was really, bodily alive and opened the Scriptures (Luke 24), the Ascension and the mission He handed His followers (Acts 1), and the praying, waiting days that followed (Acts 1). It’s built for the Sundays after Easter — and because the Bible teaching is about following the living Jesus, churches use it for children’s church and Sunday school any month of the year. Available in Kids (ages 6–12) and Preschool (ages 3–5) editions.

💡 Big Idea: The resurrection wasn’t the ending — Jesus is alive, His story keeps going, and He invites you to join it.

📖 Memory Verse: "But you will receive power when the Holy Spirit comes upon you, and you will be My witnesses in Jerusalem, and in all Judea and Samaria, and to the ends of the earth." (Acts 1:8) BSB

✝️ Gospel Connection: Easter morning wasn’t a finale — it was the start of something. That same afternoon the risen Jesus was already walking beside two sad friends. He showed His friends He was really, bodily alive, opened the Scriptures to show the whole Bible had always been leading to Him, gave His followers a mission and the promise of His Spirit’s power, and taught them that even waiting is part of the plan. Because Jesus is alive, His story is still going — and everyone who trusts Him gets a part in it.

Week 1 — Jesus walks beside us, even when we don’t recognize Him

  • Bible Story: The Road to Emmaus (Luke 24:13–35)
  • Key Discovery: The risen Jesus came near two heartbroken friends the very afternoon of Easter — walking with them, opening the Scriptures, and revealing Himself at the table. The story wasn’t over; it was just beginning.
  • Takeaway: The show wasn’t over — Jesus showed up for two of His fans on the road that same day, and He walks with you too.

Week 2 — The whole Bible points to Jesus

  • Bible Story: Jesus Appears and Opens the Scriptures (Luke 24:36–49)
  • Key Discovery: The risen Jesus showed His friends He was really, bodily alive — hands, feet, even eating fish — and opened their minds to see that all the Scriptures had been leading to Him.
  • Takeaway: The whole Bible is one setlist — and the whole setlist leads to Jesus.

Week 3 — Jesus gave His followers a mission

  • Bible Story: The Ascension (Acts 1:1–11)
  • Key Discovery: Before Jesus was taken up to heaven, He promised the Holy Spirit’s power and gave His followers their mission: “you will be My witnesses… to the ends of the earth.”
  • Takeaway: Jesus doesn’t want fans in the crowd — He invites us on stage. Jesus’ mission continues with us.

Week 4 — Waiting on God prepares us for what’s next

  • Bible Story: Waiting, Praying, and Choosing Matthias (Acts 1:12–26)
  • Key Discovery: Jesus’ friends didn’t waste the wait — about 120 of them stayed together, kept praying, and trusted God to fill the empty place on the team.
  • Takeaway: Backstage isn’t wasted time — the band prayed, stayed together, and got ready for what God would do next.
